The start of your upcoming move


  • To give you an accurate price for your upcoming move we must collect an inventory list
  • We create your price based off of cubic feet (space we are reserving in the truck)
  • After going over your entire move with your moving consultant you will then reserve the dates and rates for your move so that we “lock” in everything
  • Please keep in mind if needed we can change your dates and inventory list after the reservation so do not feel that you are tied to the original estimate

 

2 Months before your move


 

Sort


  • Go through your rooms and decide what you would like to move or get rid of. Think of items that may require special packing and/or additional insurance.

 

Organize


  • Transfer children’s school records to their new school district
  • Transfer medical records to new physician
  • Keep an inventory of any packed items in a notebook or folder that your signed moving estimate should be with as well

 

6 Weeks before your move


 

Supplies


  • We offer partial or full packing but If the movers are not packing you on the day of your move order boxes and other supplies such as bubble wrap, packing tape and permanent markers.

 

Grocery Items


  • Start using up things that can’t be in an environment that can withstand room temperature or heat. For example, frozen foods, fruits, refrigerated items, vegetables, bread, etc.

 

3-4 Weeks before


 

Packing


  • Start packing belongings that are not needed for everyday use. For example, DVDs, Toys, Photo albums, pictures, holiday items, décor etc.
  • While packing note any items that may need additional insurance and contact your sales representative to find out how to add moving insurance to your move.
  • Clearly label and number each box. Each box should have the room that it is designated for.

 

Valuables


  • Items such as jewelry, medications and important documents in a safe box that you will transport yourself.

 

Change of Address


  • Go to your local post office or e-file online to forward your mail to your new home

 

Personal Contacts


  • Contact your bank, credit cards, insurance and utility companies that you are moving to a new location and the date this will began.

 

2 Weeks before


 

Take the day off!


  • Notify your employer that your movers will be arriving on such dates and you will need the day off

 

Vehicle


  • If you are not transporting your car then make sure to take your car to a mechanic to have an inspection. You do not want to break down or have any car troubles along the way to your new home

 

1 Week before


 

Check Inventory List


  • Contact us if you need to update any items that you may need to add to your inventory list or remove. We like to make sure that on the day of your move that we have an accurate list of items.

 

Refill any prescriptions


  • Refill any prescriptions that your need for the next couple of week

 

Pack your suitcases


  • Start finalizing the clothing and belongings that you will be transporting yourself. Pack enough clothing for the time frame that the move could take

 

2-3 Days before

  • Contact us if you need to update any items that you may need to add to your inventory list or remove. We like to make sure that on the day of your move that we have an accurate list of items.

 

Payment


  • Upon reservation we already charged a deposit towards your upcoming move. Make sure upon pick up that you have the next payment ready in the form of cash, cashiers check or postal money order. As it is not required to tip but since we get this questions often we now suggest 10-15% of the total fee as a good opinion. Don’t forget refreshments are appreciated

 

MOVING DAY!


  • The movers will present you paperwork such as a bill of lading, inventory list etc. please sign these and keep a copy for your files
  • Remember that pick up payments are in the forms of cash, cashier’s check, postal money order or credit card.
  • Certain items that are fragile the foreman may not have been comfortable with the way that it was packed and may ask to re-package the item, please remember that it is in your best interest to keep these items safe and we just want to protect your goods he may suggest that our men pack it or advise you how it should be packed
